Lois M. Chaney, 97, of Windsor, Missouri, died Thursday, January 3, 2013, at the Windsor Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Windsor.
She was born November 13, 1915, in LaSalle, Colorado, the daughter of William Samuel Jeffries and Nettie Ann (Morhrle) Jeffries. On June 14, 1936, in Denver, Colorado, she married Thomas Edgar Britt and he preceded her in death on August 12, 1974. She later married Ralph Henry Chaney on November 7, 1984 and he preceded her in death on November 25, 2012.
Mrs. Chaney and her first husband moved to Leeton, Mo., from Colorado and established a Grade A Dairy Farm. She later worked for Gerbes Supermarket in Windsor for 13 years, retiring in 1967. She enjoyed doing volunteer work for Hospice and the Windsor Senior Center where she played in the Senior Center Kitchen Band for 12 years. She was a former member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Windsor and a current member of the Green Ridge Baptist Church, Green Ridge, Mo. She accepted Jesus as her Savior when she was a child and served Him faithfully as long as she was able, teaching Sunday school, Bible classes and in other areas of the church.
Survivors include: 5 step-grandchildren; 9 step-great-grandchildren and 3 step-great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her only child, Thomas James Britt, in 1979; 2 sisters and a brother.
NOTE: 2nd husband Ralph Henry Chaney was not buried, as he requested his body be gifted to the University of Missouri, school of medicine according to his obituary.
