Dorothy "Dotti" LaVerne Marino, 74, went to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 5, 2013. She was born February 7, 1939 in Houston, TX.
Dorothy graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in 1956 and attended The University of Houston. She worked for Tauber Oil Company and after many years retired with Witco Chemical Company. She was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, and friend. She lived her life every day and in every way to be pleasing to our Lord. Her passion and joy in life was her family. She displayed an unconditional love toward her family and friends that was seldom seen in this world. Dorothy was a compassionate servant of the Lord that spent many hours and days as a devoted caretaker of her 98-year-old mother. Her selfless devotion to her mother spoke volumes of her character. She was a devoted prayer warrior that spent many hours praying for her family and anyone that brought their petitions to her attention. No request was too big or small, she faithfully prayed for them all. She was always ready to be a willing witness and share her faith about her Lord. She loved her children and grandchildren with her whole heart and could always be heard talking about them. She was always young at heart and often brought a smile to everyone's face with her sense of humor. "Her children arise and call her blessed." Proverbs 31:28.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Stoppel and her uncle and aunt, Bill and Kay Wohlt. She is survived by her mother, LaVerne Stoppel, her three children, Sherri Smith and her husband Mike, Vicki Ryon and her husband Ross, her son Michael, her 5 grandchildren and her cousin Kelley Zarker.
