Herbert F. Aholt was born in Glasgow on Dec. 31, 1924, the son of the late Martin and Frances (Fuemmeler) Aholt. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Kathryn Buehler, on June 17, 1950, at St. Mary Church in Glasgow. She preceded him in death Jan. 27, 1988.

Herb was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving his country in both World War II and the Korean War. Herb was a self-employed dirt contractor all of his life. Herb loved to tell a good joke, often saying, "Any day you can make someone smile is a good day."

He is survived by three daughters, Elaine (Charles) Callaway of Jefferson City, Patty Messer of Camdenton and Cindy Feilner of Navarre, Fla.; one son, Mike (Dana) Aholt of Columbia; two sisters, Florence Kivett of Jefferson City and Virginia Sellmeyer of Tampa, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Joe, Marvin and Delbert; and one sister, Leona Nordmeyer.
