Earl G. Quenzel, Sr. of Estero, Florida passed to his new home in Heaven with our Lord on Friday, June 28, 2013.
Earl shared his life as the loving husband of Dolores (Del) Conicello Quenzel for 60 years. Tony Bennet's, Because of You, best reflects his feelings for her: Because of You, there's a song in my heart... Because of You, my romance had its start... Because of You, the sun will shine... The moon and stars will say your mine... Forever and never to part... Because of You, my life is now worthwhile... And I can smile... Because of You.
His Best Buddy was his son, Earl (wife Colleen) of Fort Myers, Florida and his two married daughters, Denise (husband Wayne) Getsinger of Mickleton, NJ & Gail (husband Tommy) Rocco of Palm Coast, FL were the Sun & Moon in his world. Earl earned his reputation as the 'Fun' Pop-Pop by spoiling his four grandchildren Drew, Dominique, Danielle and Thomas every chance he could get.
Born the 11th of eleven children on January 20, 1930 in Gloucester, NJ to the late Charles and Ida Nitzky Quenzel, Earl and his big brother, Irvin Quenzel of Mantua, NJ. remained very close.
Earl proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a Boiler Technician, Petty Officer Third Class aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Leyte (CV-320). He spent 3 years and 4 months in active Foreign/Sea service earning a Korean Service Medal with Two Stars and a navy Occupation Service Medal with both Asiatic and European Clasps.
Earl belonged to Post #133 of the American Legion (Woodbury, NJ) and the Bonita Springs-Estero Elks Club #2753.
A Memorial Service for family and friends to celebrate his life will be held in the Breckenridge Club House, Estero, Florida.
