Clement Val Hord was born in Union County, Ohio on December 21,1867. He was the last of the ten children born to his parents Andrew Jackson Hord (1822 -1886) and Mary Jane Hyland (1825 - 1911). Three children died before reaching adulthood. Less than a year after Clement was born the family moved to a farm in Pickaway, Shelby County, Illinois. When he grew up he married his first wife, Grace E. Wilkinson in Shelbyville on May 5,1895. Grace was born in Shelbyville in 1874. The marriage ended in divorce in less than five years. By that time Clement was living in Pleasant Ridge, Livingston, Illinois working as a telegraph operator.

Sometime later, Clement met and married his second wife Neola P Hord who was born in Iowa. By 1910 they had moved to Lawton, Oklahoma. Here Clement was employed at the "Frisco" railroad depot as a cashier. By 1920, he worked his way up to chief clerk. Then, before 1930, Clement and his wife moved to Frederick City, Tillman County, Oklahoma where he continued to work for the railroad as an agent . He and his wife never had any children. At the age of 62, Clement died on March 10,1933, cause of death unknown. After his death, Clement's wife, Neola P Hord moved back to Lawton. There she continued to live until her death in 1950.
