The funeral for Gerald A. Kingsley will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Congregational Church with the Rev. Diane L. Harvey officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Mr. Kingsley, 71, of 1111 12th Ave. N.W., a retired Rochester police captain, died Saturday (March 29, 1997) at Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island after a lengthy illness.

Born Aug. 19, 1925, in Mount Vernon Township, Winona County, he graduated from Dover High School and served in the Navy three years. He lived in Rochester most of his life. On Feb. 1, 1948, he married Phyllis Kreager in Dodge Center. He joined the Rochester Police Department after his military discharge and attended FBI Academy in 1968. He retired from the Rochester police force as captain after 29 years of service and then drove school bus for a number of years. Mr. Kingsley enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Pamela F. Volden of Rochester and Sharon M. Kingsley of Lakeville, Minn.; six sons, James A., Daniel A., Roger G., George T., John S. and Scott W., all of Rochester; 18 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A brother and a sister preceded himn in death.

Friends may call an hour before the service Tuesday at the church. Ranfranz Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
