John J. Bauer, Sr.
The death of John J. Bauer, sr., as briefly mentioned in our last issue, occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fred Polzer, in this city, on Tuesday of last week. The funeral was held at the Catholic church in the town of Lima on Thursday morning at 10 o'clock, the Rev. Noever officiating. The remains were laid in the Catholic cemetery at that place. The funeral was very largely attended.
Mr. Bauer was born May 6, 1841, at Swatzer, Austria, and came to this country in 1873, and located on a farm in the town of Lima. He was an honest, hard-working man and won a host of friends in this section. He leaves his wife, six daughters and three sons to mourn his loss. The daughters are Mary, Mrs. Anton Polzer; Agnes, Mrs. Fred Polzer; both of this city; Julia, Anna, Tracy and Mrs. Thomas Bauer of the town of Lima. The sons are John J., jr., Frank J. and Ludwig all of the town of Lima. He also leaves one brother, Ignaz Bauer of Eau Claire.
