Margaret "Peg" L. Abernathy, age 90, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2013, at Morristown Manor. She was born February 2, 1923, in Napoleon, Ind. as the daughter of Clyde F. and Breatice V. (Shemely) Lutes.

She married Samuel C. Abernathy on December 12, 1941. She was an assembler at Western Electric, was a beautician, a homemaker and also worked at the Kopper Kettle in Morristown. Mrs. Abernathy was a member of the Greenfield Senior Citizens Club.

She is survived by her children, Pamela Baker of Shirley, Keith (Rita) Abernathy of Fountaintown, and Deena (Steve) Warner of Shelbyville; sister, Erma Camp of Greenfield; sister-in-law, Velma Lutes of Napoleon; grandchildren, Kyle Snyder, Chad (Lindsay) Abernathy, Chris Abernathy, Caitlin Abernathy, Chase Abernathy, Shawna McVey and Andrew (Cinnamon) Hendricks, Kassidy Baker, and Kalen Baker; and great-grandchildren, Alysia, Samuel, Keith, Kilee, Makayla, Damien and Aries.

Preceding her in death was her husband; her parents; two brothers, Arlie and Richard; sisters, Esther and Patty.

The family of Peg would like to say a special thanks to the staff at Morristown Manor for all of their wonderful care.

Visitation will be 3 - 7 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2013. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2013. Both the visitation and service will be held at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory in Greenfield. Elder Mike Chastain will be officiating. Burial will follow at Concord Cemetery in Fountaintown.
