Swan P. Carlson, on of Hobart's pioneer residents passed away at his home on Kelly st. Wed., afternoon, Nov. 13, 1929. He was born in Christdala, Sweden, Jan 5, 1855, one of a family of eight children. In the spring of 1869, he came to Hobart with his parents to reside. On Mar. 25, 1886, he was united in marriage to Christine Charlson of Porter, IN. To this union, were born five children; Arthur who died in infancy; Arnet N. & Mrs Frank Papke, who reside in Gary and Mrs. A. L. Johnson and Walfred L. Carlson of Hobart. He leaves to mourn, his widow, four children eight grandchildren & one brother Oscar Carlson of Chicago.
Mr. Carlson who had always been a devoted member of the Swedish Lutheran church and was for many years a member of the board of administration and also treasurer of the church, and the last of the men to help in the building of the presend church building. He was always deeply interested in the welfare of his home, city and had watched Hobart grow from a small town to its present size.
Funeral services at the Augustana Lutheran church, burial in the Hobart Cemetery.
