Samuel Houston Sproles, 73, passed away on October 22, 1963, in Waco, Texas. Burial will be at Rosemound Cemetery.

Samuel was born in Hutto, Texas, to Henry Cornelius Sproles and Lenora Alice Choate Sproles. His parents were divorced when he was still an infant and he was reared by his mother and grandmother. As an only son, it became his task to provide as much support for the family as possible. He learned the metalworking and plumbing trade while working at Mr. E.G. Ramsaier's business in Bartlett, Texas. He met and later married Mr. Ramsaier's daughter, Marie.

Sam and Marie moved to Waco, Texas, (1905 S. 11th St.) where they reared their son, Samuel Jr., and daughters, Hazel and Ruth. He established a plumbing and heating business which he owned and operated for more than 30 years until his death in 1963. Sam was a devoted son and provided for his aged mother during his lifetime.

He was preceded in death by his youngest daughter, four-year-old, Hazel, in 1926.

Survivors include his wife, Marie: son, Samuel Sproles, Jr.; daughter, Ruth S. Parker; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; mother, Lenora Alice Choate Hearne; other relatives and many friends.

NOTE: His mother died in 1975 at the age of 103.
