Mark J. Rodriguez, 58, Rochester, passed away at 2:45 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013, at his residence.

He was born on Nov. 21, 1954, in Gary, the son of James D. Rodriguez and Shirley (Arbaugh) Rodriguez-Pemberton.

On May 24, 1985, he married Gayle Lebo at the First Christian Church, Rochester.

Mark served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1973-1975, meritoriously promoted to sergeant. Returning to civilian life, he enrolled and graduated from the Indiana Police Academy in 1976. He became one of the youngest Fulton County Sheriff's deputies to serve the department. He was a Kosciusko County probation officer, and had been the Fulton County Chief Probation Officer. He has served Fulton County as County Commissioner since 2006. Currently, Mark was the owner/operator of Paperless Business Solutions, designing software for the community corrections departments across the state.

He was member of the First Christian Church, serving as an elder and board chairman, member of the Rochester Elks Club, Loyal Order of the Moose, American Legion, Indiana County Commissioners Association and was an active member of the Big Brothers/Big Sisters.

In his spare time, Mark enjoyed nature and bird watching, working in the garden and his yard, ice fishing, Purdue tailgating and always enjoyed the time spent with his canine companion, Oreo, and feline companion, Chester. He adored his grandchildren, loved spending time with his family and took great pride in saying the family prayer at holidays.

Survivors include his wife, Gayle Rodriguez; mother, Shirley and husband Val Pemberton; children, Jenifer Rodriguez and companion Kindra Field, Stacy Rodriguez, Stephanie and husband Kyle Bandow, and Michaila Rodriguez, all of Rochester; six grandchildren, Peyton Hibner, Ebony Hibner, Bryant Bandow, Caleb Bandow and Devin Bandow, all of Rochester, and Andrea Bandow, Jonestown, Texas; two brothers, James Rodriguez, Fulton, and Donald Smith, Rochester; three sisters, Ruby and husband Clayton 'Cork' Troglen, Rochester, Linda Rodriguez, Rochester, and Kara and husband Dale Graham, Macy; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Nancy Clay, Rochester; aunt, Josephine Konowal, Rochester; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Rodriguez; stepfather, Donald Smith; and grandmother, Ruby Allard.

Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at the First Christian Church, Rochester, with Rev. Mike Van Heyningen officiating.

Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, and one hour prior to service at the church on Wednesday.

Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery, Rochester, where military graveside services will be conducted by the Fulton County Veterans Honor Guard.
