DEATH TOOK PLACE THURSDAY; SERVICES HELD SUNDAY P. M.
Final rites for Mrs. Nellie Abley, 56 years old, a resident of this village for many years,
whose death occurred at 4:30 Thursday afternoon in a Madison hospital where she had been a
patient for two weeks, were conducted at 1:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the home.
The rites were in charge of Rev. A. Muehlmeier, pastor of the Reformed church. Interment
was in Highland cemetery. Mrs. Abley's death was the termination of a comparatively long
illness.. She had submitted to a major operation and her condition was not considered
especially serious until she suffered several strokes. A blood clot proved fatal.
Mrs. Abley's maiden name was Nellie Staedtler and she was a native of Milwaukee, having
been born January 1, 1873, a daughter of Mr: and Mrs. J. Henry Staedtler. She received her
education in the Milwaukee public schools and, in 1892, accompanied her parents to
Monticello, first residing on a farm near here and later moving to the village. On October 21,
1902, she was united in marriage to J. W. Abley, the ceremony taking. place in 'this: village.
Besides her daughter, Miss Ruth, at home, Mrs. Abley is survived by three sisters, Mrs.
Albert Glaettli, Milwaukee; Mrs. J. G. L. Stauffacher, Dawson, N. D., and Mrs. Sylvia Knobel,
Monticello; and two brothers, Arthur Staedtler, Madison, and Robert Staedtler, Dawson, N.D.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister,Mrs. George Hancock, Albany, and brother, Henry Staedtler, Madison
