OTTUMWA --- Ethel De Bruyn, 93, formerly of Ottumwa died at 4 a.m. March 23, 1994, at Huggins Hospital in Wolfboro, N.H.
She was born Jan. 11, 1901, near Highland Center to Gilbert Judson and Clara Giltner Davis. She married Raymond Kerr on Nov. 20, 1919. He died April 21, 1971. She married William De Bruyn on Oct. 15, 1934.
She and her husband had owned and operated Wooden Shoe Motel in Ottumwa and later built Motel 34, now named Colonial Motel, until they retired, moving to Florida in 1957. She returned to Ottumwa in 1979, and made her home at 535 Appanoose Street and later at Camelot Towers. She moved to Wolfboro, N.H. in 1992, to be near her grandchildren.
She is survived by four grandchildren and five great-grandchildre.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Lloyd and Jim Kerr; two sisters, Edith Baker and Bessie Spragg; and three brothers, Taney, Norton and Vernon Davis.
The body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held in Ottumwa at a later date.
Arrangements are by Baker Memorial Funeral Chapel in Wolfboro.
