Hershel Roy Alsip of Douglas Avenue, Corbin, Kentucky departed this life on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at his home. He was 79 years, 2 months and 8 days of age. He was born on April 10, 1934 in Whitley County, Kentucky to the late Ernest B. Alsip and Edith (Clouse) Alsip. He was also preceded in death by a son, Michael R. Alsip and a daughter, Peggy June Alsip. He was a 17 year employee of the City of Corbin and an employee of Pennington Block and EGK Construction for over 18 years. He attended Oak Grove Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma (Jones) Alsip of Corbin, Kentucky; a daughter, Patti Alsip-Bennett of Somerset, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Michael J. Alsip, Cody Ball, Haley Ball and Anthony Justice; several brothers and sisters; and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, June 24, 2013 at the Worley Cemetery with Rev. Shawn Profitt officiating.
