Adamson, 87, died Friday, June 20, 2003 in Naples where he had a winter home. He had also lived in Buffalo, since 1922.
He retired in 1981 from the Buffalo law firm of O'Shea, Adamson, Renolds, and Napier which he joined in 1940. He had been a partner since 1949.
Born in Sayre, Pa., he graduated from Hamilton College in 1940 and Cornell University Law School three years later. During World War II, he was a Navy gunnery officer.
During his law career, Adamson was a director of the Erie County Bar association and chairman of its Medical Jurisprudence Committee, chairman of the New York State Bar Association House of Delegates and a director of the Trial Lawyers Association of Erie County. He also was a member of the American Bar Association and American College of Trial Lawyers.
In 1975 and 1976, he was involved with the insurance negligence and compensation law section of the state bar.
Adamson was a president of the Mid-Day club, a vice president and director of the Cherry Hill Club in Fort Erie, Ont., and a member of the Imperial Golf Club in Naples.
For most of his life, he was an active member of Kenmore Presbyterian Church, where he served two terms as board chairman and was an elder. He volunteered for Meals on Wheels in Buffalo and Naples and for Help on Wheels in Naples.
Survivors include his wife, the former Marguerite Skinner; a son, Jim of Sandpoint, Idaho; a daughter, Gail Anne of Denver; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
