Lois Evelyn Montgomery Ellis, age 99 of Cave Spring went to be with the Lord Friday afternoon October 10, 2014.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5 until 8 P.M. at Rehoboth Baptist Church in Cave Spring. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Monday at the church with Reverends John Fleming and David McKenzie officiating. Interment will follow in the Rehoboth Cemetery.

A complete announcement will be made Monday by Parnick Jennings Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, who is serving the family of Lois Evelyn Montgomery Ellis.

Lois Evelyn Ellis, Age 99, of Cave Spring Joined the Lord on October 10, 2014. Mrs. Ellis was born on May 21, 1915 in Cave Spring Georgia and was the daughter of the late William Twiggs Montgomery Sr. and Nonnie Montgomery. Lois was a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church where she held positions such as Sunday School superintendent/teacher, WMU Secretary/Treasurer, Community mission chairman, church social chairman and helped with bible school for 50 years. She was a member of the Cave Spring Garden Club, a member of the Cave Spring Keen Agers Club and was a volunteer for the Arts & Crafts Festival. She was member of Eastern Star Chapter 213 Cedartown, GA.

She was a graduate of Cave Spring High School and attended Georgia State College for women in Milledgeville, GA from 1936 – 1937, attended various Child Care Workshops at the University of Georgia from 1972 - 1976.

Lois was a substitute teacher at Cave Spring Schools from 1960 – 1964 where she taught all grades. Lois worked as the Director of the Open Door Home in Rome from 1970 – 1978 where she touched the lives of many children who attended the home in need of her guidance. Lois then went on to work for the City of Cave Spring, Ga where she had various responsibilities.

Lois was passionate about her yard work maintaining her flowers, fruit trees, pecan trees and blueberries. Lois enjoyed exploring and traveling new places. She enjoyed shopping especially for clothes and shoes.

She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Ellis, brothers, Clement, Farris, and Earl Montgomery; grandson, Timothy Ellis and great granddaughter Ashely Ellis. Survivors include daughter, Evelyn (Donald) Terry, Cave Spring; son, Hubert Ellis, Cave Spring; sister, Doris (Julian) Sutton, Rome; brothers, William (Evelyn) Montgomery, Glenn (Phyllis) Montgomery of Cave Spring; grandchildren, Kimberly Lamboy, Donny Terry, Teresa Beckham, Tommy Ellis, and Tammy Culp. She is survived by 11 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday October 13, 2014 at 11:00 AM, at Rehoboth Baptist Church Cave Spring, Georgia with Rev. John Fleming and Rev. David McKenzie, officiating, Interment will follow in Rehoboth Cemetary. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5 PM until 8 PM at Rehoboth Baptist Church.

Pallbearers include the following gentlemen and are asked to meet at the church by 10:30 AM Monday. Donny Terry, Alex Lamboy, Lamar Montgomery, Donnie Sutton, Randy Sutton, Rip Montgomery and David Montgomery. Honorary pallbearers will be Cody Terry, Bryson Lamboy, Jack Rayburn, Erick Hopper and Ellis Beckham.
