Donald Chester Lance passed from his Earthly Family into the loving arms of his Heavenly Family on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and is missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.
Donald was born on January 15, 1924 in Hamilton, Greenwood Co., Kansas, the 4th of 5 children of Jean and Helen Fae (Smith) Lance. He spent his early years in Yates Center, Kansas, where his father worked for the telephone company. In his mid teens, his family moved to Fort Scott, Kansas, where he completed his education and graduated from Fort Scott High School in 1942. He served honorably in the Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. After leaving the service, he started his 30 year career with the telephone company (Ma Bell).
Donald loved traveling, and after retirement he spent several years as a full-time RV'er, exploring this beautiful country we live in. In his later years, he settled down on the Oregon Coast where he loved exploring the beaches, watching ocean waves and sunsets. He continued to be active until Alzheimer's took away his ability to enjoy life as he knew it.
