Born in Greensboro to parents Jack and Martha Groome, Jerry graduated from Hargrave Military Academy before proudly serving our country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. His life was a legacy of service to the Guilford County community that he loved and was a part of his entire life. From his early years with the ambulance service, to his career as an adult in the funeral care business, Jerry was honored to build many lasting friendships through serving his community and those who supported his business, Precious Memories Pet Funeral Service. The family has been overwhelmed by the support of the community during his battle with cancer.
Jerry Groome is survived by his wife, Michelle Arsenault Groome, of the home in Jamestown; his daughter, Tracey Groome Bowyer and her husband, Sean, and 2 grandsons, Jackson and Nicholas of Greensboro, and granddaughter, Anna Maness of Carthage, NC; and his son, Travis Groome, of Raleigh. Jerry was preceeded in death by his twin brother Terry Groome, of Windermere, Florida who is survived by his wife, Gloria; and is survived by another brother, Lewis Groome, and his wife, Brenda, of Brown Summit, NC; and his sister Leslie Groome Sward, and her husband, Tom, and their 2 sons, Brett and TJ, of Big Fork, Montana.
A gathering of friends to honor the life of Jerry Groome will be held at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel at 6000 High Point Road, Greensboro, NC from 2-5 PM, Saturday, June 1st. The family will also receive friends at the home in Jamestown following the visitation.
