Larry, the son of Rodney M. Reynolds and Doris Reynolds, the brother of Michael W. Reynolds of South Houston TX enlisted in the US Marine Corps on July 2, 1968 in Houston TX. He arrived in Vietnam on January 29 1969, and was assigned to Company B, 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st MARDIV (Rein) FMF.

During Operation OKLAHOMA HILLS the Marines were checking the shore line of a finger lake north of the Ban Tan village complex in Dai Loc District and came into contact with a well-fortified and entrenched NVA force. The assaulted the enemy who fought back until they were overwhelmed by the Marines. During the fire fight PFC Reynolds was killed in action as a result of hostile rifle wounds and four men were wounded.
