"The Rev. Leslie Joe Byars, 27, of Eldorado, Ark., a former resident of Union City and the son of Stephen and Mary Jane (Tuck) Byars of Union City, died June 5, 2005, from injuries received in an automobile accident that day.
A memorial service is planned locally for 6 p.m. Sunday at Union City Second Baptist Church.
"Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Nashville, Ark., First Baptist Church, with the Revs. Greg Johnson, John Floyd, W.E. Nutt, Mark Clay, James Honeycutt, and Eddie Mallonee officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery. Nashville Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
"Friends may call there 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
"A memorial service will also be held for the family 11 a.m. Sunday at Immanuel Baptist Church in Eldorado, where he was a member and served as minister of praise and worship.
"The family requests that memorials be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, 701 South West Ave., Eldorado, AR 71730.
"He was born Sept. 28, 1977, in Clinton, Ky., and was a graduate of Union City High School, where he was a member of the band and won numerous awards. He was an ordained minister and directed a choir of more than 80 members at Immanuel Baptist Church.
"Survivors also include his brother, Joshua Adam Byars of Union City; and his paternal grandmother, Ouida Ousborne of Murray, Ky.
"His wife, the former Leigh Ann Hosey, and their children, Micah Gibson Byars, 5 years old, and Emma Claire Byars, 2 years old, died in the accident with him.
"He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, the Rev. Ira Tuck and Ralph and Doris Byars."
