"The wedding of Miss Florence Gertrude Stone, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Stone, 770 Crouse st., to J. Owen Atha, jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Atha, 80 Ido av., will take place Thursday at 10 a. m. at Firestone Park Methodist church with Dr. Paul Carter officiating. The ceremony will be followed by a family dinner at the Atha home. A reception will be held at the Stone home during the afternoon and evening. Mrs. J. I. Palich and Flemming Atha will be attendants at the wedding. Miss Stone attended Kent State university, while Mr. Atha attended Mercer university, Macon, Ga. He is associated with the A. P. Tea Co."

"Florence G. (Stone) Atha, 77, passed away Jan. 19, 1995. Born to Ruben and Marie Stone on July 24, 1917 in Brimfield, Ohio, she was a descendent of the pioneers Ellen and Jacob Walters, who settled in Tallmadge in 1880, and of Mansfield, settled in the area when it was still part of the Western Reserve area. She was a charter member and past president of Gamma Conclave of the Kappa Kappa Sorority, past president of the Coventry Fire Department Auxiliary, and a member of the Edwin Shaw Auxiliary, with over 4000 volunteer hours. She taught school in Green Township at Kleckner Elementary School. Church memberships were 50 years at Lakeview Church of Christ and Clinton First Church of Christ. Preceded in death by husband, Joe O. Atha, she is survived by sons... daughters... brother, Russell W. Stone of Chagrin Falls; sisters, Dorothy Slusser of Tempe, Ariz., and Mabel Franks of Sun City West, Ariz., and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be TODAY, Jan. 21, at 2 p.m., at the Schermesser Funeral Home, Suburban South Chapel, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (Route 619), with Rev. Jim Harding officiating. Calling hours were held Friday, 6 to 9 p.m. Interment at Greensburg Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Canton Christian Home, 2550 Cleveland Ave. N.W., Canton 44709."
