"Joe O. Atha, 67, of 300 E. Comet died April 23 at Barberton Citizens Hospital. Born in New Martinsville*, W. Va., he was an Akron resident for over 50 years. He was retired from Division 3 of Ohio Division of Wildlife as a dispatcher. Prior to that he worked for Acme-Click for many years in the meat department as manager. Mr. Atha was a member of the Portage Lakes Lodge No. 752 (charter member), previous member of the Lakeview Church of Christ for 25 years and a former elder. He was a Coventry volunteer fireman for 18 years, past president of the Summit County Firemen's Association, and a present member of the Clinton Church of Christ for 12 years. He was on the Board of Directors for the Comet Lake Association. He is survived by wife, Florence sons... daughters... brother, Howard of Sacramento, and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, 1 p.m., at the Schermesser Funeral Home, SUBURBAN SOUTH Chapel, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (Route 619), Rev. Norman Maynard officiating. Interment Greensburg Cemetery. Calling hours will be Saturday, 7 to 9 p.m., and Sunday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Masonic service will be Sunday evening (time to be announced). Memorials may be given in his name to the Edwin Shaw Hospital Auxiliary Project Fund."
