All marble gravestones in this lot related to the Wigfall and Austiss families were removed on May 16, 1950 by James Clifford Snape (1900-1972, grave #10), as per cemetery records (image on right).

The lot came into the Snape family via the second marriage of Harriet (Austiss) Wigfall (1821-1913, grave #3) to Samuel Snape Sr. (1822-1889, grave #3) on 13 Feb 1867, Newark, Essex Co., NJ - his third marriage.

The Austiss burials are the children and granchildren of Harriet via her (probable illegitimate) son Joseph W. Austiss.

Harriet's third marriage was to Thomas Bowerman, Sr. (1828-1915), interred in Fairmount Cemetery, Newark, NJ, and who fulfilled her wishes that she be interred with husband #2, Samuel Snape Sr., and near husband #1, John Wigfall (1828-1860, grave #5), son of Esther Wigfall (1796-1853, grave #4).

The original plot owner, George Wigfall Sr., Esther's husband, was apparently never buried in Rosedale Cemetery - interment location unknown at this time.
