Millersburg- Clarence Lewis Huedepohl was born November 5, 1922, in Iowa County near Homestead, the son of Lewis and Anna (Von Weihe) Huedepohl. He was baptized on February 27, 1923 and confirmed on March 11, 1937 at St. John Lutheran Church near Homestead. He attended St. John Lutheran School. Clarence was united in marriage to Ramona LeRue Weiss on April 29, 1945 at the St. John Lutheran Church rural Victor. Together the couple farmed west of Millersburg for many years. After retiring Clarence worked at Husband Feed and was a handyman for Jim Reitzler and Keith Fish. Clarence spent most of his life in the Millersburg area, where those who knew him well, called him by his nickname "Bones". Clarence is a member St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg and was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Millersburg were he served as congregational chair for 18 years and as an elder. Clarence enjoyed going to the coffee club in Millersburg, riding and driving his horses and mules, watching Hawkeye basketball, but his passion was his family and church, especially his grandsons. Clarence died Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at his home near Millersburg at the age of 90 years. Clarence is survived by his wife of 68 years: Ramona of Millersburg; three children: Joyce (Michael) Glaser of Omaha, NE, Gloria (Dan) Harrington of Alpine, CA and Steve (Mary) Huedepohl of Parnell, IA; 5 grandsons; 3 step grandchildren and 2 step great grandchild; 2 sisters: Norma McCoy of Williamsburg and Leona Wille of North English. He was preceded in death by his parents; 9 brothers and sisters: Linda Lorenz, Dora Lorenz, Elmer Huedepohl, Agnes Soedt, Walter Huedepohl, Freda Jones, Flora Teggatz, Melva Wade and Alfred Huedepohl. Celebration of Life Service will be 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. Pastor Carl Cloeter will officiate. Burial will be in the Millersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 -7:00 PM at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg.
