Clyde Thomas Crotts, age 94, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2013 in Winston Salem at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House. He was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Addie Mae Crotts. Clyde was born in 1919 in Welcome, NC to John Franklin Crotts and Essie Craver Crotts and graduated from Welcome High School. In 1940, he joined the Army Air Corp and proudly served during WWII in India, Northern Africa, and southern Italy before sailing home in late 1944. In 1945, he moved to Norfolk, Va and worked at the Norfolk Naval Base until retirement. After retirement, he volunteered countless hours at his church, Norview Baptist, chairing the property committee, visiting the sick, and serving as a deacon. In 2009, he and Addie moved to Winston Salem where they were embraced by the members of Grace Baptist Church.

Clyde is survived by his son, Rick Crotts ( and wife, Paula), and daughter, Vickie Johnson ( and husband, Gene); grandchildren Jenifer Sullivan ( and husband, Brady), and Matt Crotts ( and wife, Reecie); and great grandchildren Zeke, Kaelyn, Chloe, Kate, and Drew.

A memorial service to celebrate Clyde's life will be held on Saturday, May 25, at Grace Baptist Church, 3305 Peters Creek Parkway at 11:30 am. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 24, at the Davidson Funeral Home, 858 Hickory Tree Road from 6:00-7:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Hospice & Palliative Carecenter, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston Salem, NC 27103.
