He was first buried in the Farmer Cemetery, then was moved to Fountain Grove Mausoleum in Bryan when his wife died.

According to the 1976 Defiance County History pg 121, Ephriam purchased the Farmer Hotel in Farmer, Farmer Twp., Defiance Co., OH in 1880. The hotel then became known as the Allen Hotel. It was located on the NW corner of Routes 2 and 249, where the current fire station is located. It was torn down in 1958. According to the 1976 History, pg 121, "He rented the hotel to others until his family moved there in 1896. The hotel did a big business and drew people from miles around. Margaretta Allen served delicious meals". The hotel was built in 1850 by William Gilchrist and ownership changed several times before Ephriam purchased it. There are pictures of the Allen Hotel in the 1976 History on pages 121, 122, and 124. A copy The 1976 History of Defiance County is available in the Genealogy Department at the Defiance Public Library in Defiance and the Williams County Public Library in Bryan. The book is reserved for "reference use only".
