Rodolfo “Ruby” Abila Jr., 14 years of age, passed away on May 27, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital.
He was born on Aug. 1, 1990, in Odessa to Rudy and Rita Abila. Rudy Jr. attended Crockett Junior High and was member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Rudy was a High Brass Lieutenant and member of the 2004-2005 all City Band, he was also a member of the Odessa Boxing Club and the Select Team of the Outlaws Baseball Club — he was their catcher.
Rudy is survived by his parents, Rudy Sr. and Rita Abila of Odessa; his brother, Jeffery Ben Abila of Odessa; his sister, Elija Deandra Abila of Odessa; grandparents, Epifanio “Wedo” and Felix Abila of Barstow; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members.
Visitation will begin on at 9 a.m. Monday at Odessa Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited for Rudy at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday June 1, 2005, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Burial will follow at RoseHill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Clint Elmore, Hector Hernandez, Chris Guerrero, Sammy Avila, Mark Abila, Justin Abila, Mono Rubio and Daniel Morales.
