(December 12, 1956 - May 7, 2013)
STEVEN A BELNAP
Steven "A" Belnap, 56, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013, in Washington Terrace following an extended illness. Born December 12, 1956, in Oakland, California to Gordon Leslie and G. Joy McArthur Belnap, he grew up in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School in 1975. He attended Weber State College and Utah State University and was affiliated with Sigma Gamma Chi fraternity.

An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Steven served an LDS mission to the Florida Ft. Lauderdale (Spanish-speaking) Mission from 1976 to 1978, serving mostly in Puerto Rico. He worked for many years at Mortgage Computer in Ogden.

An avid family historian, Steven served as genealogist of the Belnap Family Organization for several decades. He enjoyed updating the family's genealogical records, attending reunions, and keeping in close touch with relatives. He also loved American history, particularly the Civil War era and the lives of U.S. Presidents. He traveled through much of the U.S. visiting historical sites. Steven had an exceptionally sharp mind with an uncanny ability to recall long-forgotten dates and details. He always remembered to send birthday and holiday cards. Funny, kind, and considerate, he loved telling jokes and stories, watching classic movies, reading and collecting books, playing board games, and treating his nieces and nephews to special outings with "Uncle Teeb" A doting uncle who gave unconditional love, he was, truly, "the best uncle ever."

Steven contracted osteomyelitis as an infant, which slightly affected his mobility. In 1998, he was involved in a car accident that damaged his liver and eventually severely impacted his overall health. In November 2010 he was hospitalized and fought hard to recover, spending time in various hospitals and care centers. Those extra few years were a great blessing to his family. A highlight during this time was when he returned to his childhood home for Christmas Eve dinner 2012—a memory that will be treasured forever.

Steven was preceded in death by his mother, who died in June 2012, and an infant brother, Alan Leslie Belnap. He is survived by his father; his brothers Brian Lee (Karen Palmer) Belnap of Liberty and Brent Jay (Lorinda Goff) Belnap recently of New York City; ten loving nieces and nephews: Michael, Melissa (serving an LDS mission in Guatemala), Ryan, Rachael, David (serving an LDS mission in Peru), Caroline, Christopher, Spencer, Rebecca, and Nathan Belnap; an uncle Joe C. Pine of Montgomery, Alabama; and many dear cousins and extended family members. To accommodate family travel, the viewing will be Tuesday, May 28, at Aaron's Mortuary, 496 24th Street, in Ogden, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and Wednesday, May 29, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 11 am at Aaron's Mortuary, 496 24th Street, Ogden, UT Interment will be at Ogden City Cemetery next to his mother.

The family wishes to thank Mount Ogden Health and Rehabilitation Center and CNS Home Health and Hospice for their kindness to Steven. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Steven's honor to the General Missionary Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, www.ldsphilanthropies.org/missionary.
