John Nolan Carr, son of Herman and May (Andis) Carr was born February 20, 1924 on a farm near Baker, Oklahoma. Shortly after his birth the family moved to a farm near Liberal, Kansas, for the first three grades. In 1932 the family moved to Bentonville, Arkansas, where John attended school through his Junior year. For his Senior year of high school, John attended Friends Haviland Academy, Haviland, Kansas graduating in 1941. He worked in Washington, D.C. from 1942 to 1946. While there he met and married Frances M. Cochrane of Caney, Kansas. They returned to Kansas in 1946. John graduated from Friends Bible College, Haviland, Kansas. He was recorded a minister in the Friends Church. John received his degree in education at Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado. John and Frances pastored churches in Colorado, and John taught in schools in Kansas, Colorado, Idaho, and Oregon. John retired in 1987 after 39 years of teaching. In 1990 they moved to Caney, Kansas.

Survivors include; daughter Monica Stone, Son Dan Carr, daughter in law Bev Payton,Grandchild Brook Puckett, great grandchild Michaela Puckett, great grandchild Josiah Puckett, Grandchild Bria Payton, and Brother Victor Carr. Preceding him in death were his parents, wife Frances, son Cyril, and brother Albert.
