Cynthia "Cindy" Lee Barnes Callahan was born May 31, 1964, the daughter of Nancy L. Willing Barnes Bozman and the late Daniel P. Barnes Sr.
She was a 1983 graduate of Washington High School in Princess Anne, Maryland. At the age of 19, Cindy started work as a typist in the maintenance department at Deer's Head State Hospital in Salisbury. Cindy climbed the ladder to success receiving one promotion after another before becoming Nursing Home Administrator in March of 2006. In July 2009 she was made acting assistant superintendent and in 2011 was made superintendent. Cindy also served as Safety Officer for many years. She retired Aug. 1, 2011, due to health reasons.
She and her husband taught karate.
She is survived by her husband, Christopher Callahan; a daughter, Carly Danielle Callahan; her mother and step-father, Nancy L. and Gorman Bozman; a brother Daniel Barnes Jr. and his wife Beverly Kim; two nephews, Phillip and Nicholas Barnes; three uncles Joseph, Ernest and Royce Barnes; and her father and mother-in-law, Vaughn and Renee Callahan and her special friends that she called her Godfather and Godmother, Grant and Ellen Corbin.
