David Richard Nelson of Elk Ridge, Utah passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2013 in Provo. He was born on March 22, 1941 in Sacramento, California to Earl Clarence and Matilda Ann Eichhorn Nelson.
He attended BYU and received a Bachelor's Degree in mechanical drawing and broadcasted his own radio station from his dorm room. David worked at various companies throughout his life including: General Electric, American Door, Oroweat Foods, California Pretzel, NASA Ames Research, Ragu Foods and Foster Farms.
David loved to work with his hands, he enjoyed woodworking and MG's and loved to look at and work with cars. He really enjoyed when he could work at home. David was a member of the Church of Latter-Day Saints and served in various callings.
He is survived by his wife, MaraLee Miller Nelson; 3 sons and 2 daughters: Eric (Kim) of Payson, Katrina (Greg) Coles of Idaho Falls, ID, Wendi (Heath) Young of Blackfoot, ID, Chad of Elk Ridge and Branden (Amber) of Visalia, CA; 19 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild with one on the way. David is preceded in death by his parents, brother John Nelson, and daughter-in-law Kristie.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. at Salem City Cemetery, 130 East 965 South.
