Thomas Warner Hair, 74, passed from this life on Saturday, April 27, 2013. Tom was born on September 25, 1935 in Haskell, OK to Clarence and Georgia (Smalley) Hair. The Hair's began their child rearing with Tom, and his brother Barney, in Haskell prior to moving to Fort Gibson for a short time. At the conclusion of World War II, with the promise of higher paying jobs and a better life, the Hair family had a farm sale, packed their belongings, and traveled cross country to reside and work in Los Angeles. Although content with California, their hearts never truly left Oklahoma and their roots. Mr. Hair moved his family back to Haskell, bought a herd of cattle, and began farming with his wife and sons. When Tom and Barney where in their early teen years, the family once again moved, to Sand Springs, where jobs were plentiful in the growing industrial sector of the west banks of the Arkansas River.

Tom and Barney attended schools in Sand Springs. One day as Tom was walking his newspaper route near fourth and Roosevelt, he saw the most amazing, beautiful young lady sitting on her porch swing. Ms. Betty Chambers. It was not but a few days until Betty took an interest in waiting for the newspaper on her porch with an ice cold soda or tea for the handsome paper boy. At the end of his paper route, he found himself stopping on his way home to once again visit with Betty. This was the beginning of a courtship that would eventually result in a marriage lasting nearly 57 years. On his 17th birthday, Tom was inducted into the United States Army where he would serve for three years in the 82nd Para-Troopers Airborne Division. On May 30, 1956 Tom and Betty were united in marriage in Sand Springs, enjoying ever day until his passing. Together they raised two daughters, Loretta Jane and Linda Gail.

Mr. Hair was a handyman and could build anything. He was a craftsman with anything steel, constructing things from hand. His most prized product was a miniature steam engine, built on a work bench in his garage, which he proudly has displayed in a plexiglass handmade case. By trade, Tom was a supervisor in maintenance with Champlin Petroleum for 21 years, retiring in 1984 to be self-employed.

Surviving Tom is his wife of the home, Betty Hair; daughter, Loretta Jane Neal and husband Michael of Corpus Christie, TX; brother, Barney Hair and wife Pat of Sand Springs, OK; and grandchildren, Jennifer Lee Gipson of Fargo, OK; Samantha Lynn Gipson of Sand Springs, OK; and great-grandchildren, Jimmy Dewayne Clark, Jr., Cash Lee Armstrong, and Annabelle Linda Gail Armstrong.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Georgia Hair; and daughter, Linda Gail Phillips.

A Funeral Service has been scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at the Mobley-Dodson Chapel with Reverend Tim Watkins officiating. Interment will immediately follow with military rites at Oakhill Cemetery in Mannford, OK.

Viewing and visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m., Monday April 29, 2013 and 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 30, 2013. Condolences and messages for the family may be left at www.mobley-dodsonfuneralservice.com
