Clarissa was a daughter of Job J. Aughee (a War of 1812 veteran) & Sarah (Johnston) Sawyer (the widow of John Sawyer), who were both natives of Pennsylvania. Job and Sarah were in Ohio early in their lives, Job having served as a Pvt. in the Ohio Militia during the war. Job and Sarah were residing at least into the 1830's in Springboro, Warren County, Ohio, where they had married in 1824.

Clara Aughee married a merchant, George Bacon (of New York) on 17 Feb 1850 in Preble, Ohio, likely in Campbellstown (Jefferson Twp.) at her parent's home; they were married by Ziba Brown (a Minister of the Gospel).
(Her sisters Lydia, Sarah, and Hannah were married there as well).

They lived in New Madison, Ohio and raised their family of a son, Orla C., and daughter Flora, until sometime in the mid-1880's when they went west to Spokane Falls (now Spokane), Washington.

They and their children spent the remainder of their lives in that state.

She and her husband share one side of the 4-sided Bacon gravestone/monument.
Her sister Morella "Rell" Aughee shares another side of the stone...
