Taking off at 18.54 hrs to lay mines on a Gardening operation – ‘Carrots'. See map on A.R. pages for very approximate area of loss. 70 aircraft took part in many separate gardening operations this night – 4 were lost.
Wellington Z1343 was hit by ground fire and ditched in the Vejle Fjord. Two crew were rescued and their full story can be found on a couple of great Danish Websites as shown in the credits on Aircrew Remembered.
