Edwin F. 'Ed' Stolns formerly of Longmont, died Monday, May 2, 2005, at his Fountain Valley, Calif., home. He was 87.
He was born Sept. 19, 1917, in Arvada to Julius and Elsie Mae (Montgomery) Stolns. He married Mary Krpan on Jan. 10, 1941, in Goodland, Kan. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2001. Mr. Stolns lived in Longmont from 1942 to 2002. He was a coal mine machinist and later mine superintendent, spending 43 years in the mining profession. He was a member of the Catholic faith and was an altar boy in his youth. Mr. Stolns enjoyed woodworking, reading, fishing, traveling and going to garage sales and flea markets. He was preceded in death by three brothers.
Mr. Stolns is survived by his wife of Fountain Valley; two sons, Edwin Joseph "Joe" Stolns of Worland, Wyo., and Donald James "Don" Stolns of Fountain Valley; a daughter, Michael Ann Stolns Carleton of Fountain Valley; a brother, Robert "Bob" Stolns of Saratoga, Wyo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will take place at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
