WASHINGTON CITY — Kellie Ann Ames Gubler, 36, passed away after a valiant three-year battle with breast cancer April 24, 2013, in Washington City.
She was born Sept. 15, 1976, in Provo, to Glen C and Jana Jackson Ames.
She was married to David Phillip Gubler Aug. 7, 1999, in the St. George LDS temple for time and all eternity.
Kellie was raised in Richfield, where she graduated from high school. She was Miss Richfield in 1995. She received her Associate Degree from Dixie State College.
Kellie was very active in supporting others battling with cancer. She created a chapter in Southern Utah of the Young Survivor Sisters. She helped with the passage of Senate Bill 189 in the 2013 Utah Legislature. She testified on behalf of cancer patients to receive parity in receiving oral chemotherapy.
Kellie had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and was active in the LDS church where she served faithfully in several callings. She had a strong passion for family history and loved the temple. Kellie's faith in our Savior was a blessing to all those that knew her. Kellie loved to sing. She often shared her testimony of Jesus Christ through song.
She is survived by her husband, David Phillip Gubler, Washington City; children, Bailee, 11; Donovan, 8; Alysa, 5. Also, parents, Glen and Jana Ames, Richfield; brothers, Nicholas Jackson Ames (Angela), Enoch; Derek Busenbark Ames (Charlyn) and Tyler Glen Ames, St. George.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at the LDS chapel located at 1835 South Washington Fields Road, Washington City. There will be a viewing Friday, April 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Spilsbury Mortuary, located at 110 South Bluff Street, St. George. There will also be a viewing April 27 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., prior to the funeral.
