Samantha Hopper Obituary
SALEM - Samantha Layne Hopper came into the world, a precious gift, February 22, 1988. After 17 years and 67 days she left this world to return to the loving protection of her heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a joy and blessing to her family and friends. Her smile and cheerful ways will be sadly missed, yet treasured memories. From her early days she was noted for her "snappy" brown eyes. Through her life she was known for great compassion, a feisty spirit and a very gifted intellect. She participated on the West Salem High School robotics team, Lemelson-MIT InvenTeam, West Salem High School basketball and track programs. She was a dedicated student carrying a full load of honors and AP classes. She was looking toward college and an engineering program. For those who knew her, we grieve of a life too short, yet rejoice in a life lived well and full.
Samantha's father, Eddie; mother, Nadara; and brother, Craig, loved the life the family shared and miss her intensely. She also leaves behind grandparents, Jim and Georgia Hopper of Hotchkiss, Colo., Jude and Ed DeGagne of Fruita, Colo., and Ken and Kim Martino of Portland.
If a person can be measured by the people that call them friend, Samantha was an All-Star in this life, as she is held close by a great number of exceptional young friends, parents, and teachers.
A Celebration of her Life will be held 3:30 p.m., Thursday, May 5, 2005 at Salem Alliance Church. Private interment at Restlawn Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Samantha Hopper Memorial Fund at any Washington Mutual Bank. Arrangements by Howell-Edwards-Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors.
