Albert Leo Boehme, 89, of Boca Raton, Fla., formerly of East Moline, died Friday, April 19, 2013, at St. Andrew's Medical Center North in Boca Raton.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 26, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be from noon until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at the National Cemetery on Arsenal Island. Military rites will be conducted by the Moline American Legion Post No. 246. Memorials may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Albert was born on April 17, 1924, in Rock Island, the son of Charles Abraham and Gertrude Mary Jacobs Boehme. He married Dorothy L. Carlson on Nov. 9, 1961, in Rock Island.
Al was a United States Navy veteran having served from 1941-45. During his time in the Navy, Al was stationed first on the USS Biscayne and later on the USS Yorktown during the battle of Midway until the ship sank. He then went on to serve on numerous ships until returning stateside.

Al worked as a tool crib keeper with the Rock Island Arsenal for 26 years, retiring in 1977. He was an avid golfer, having seven hole-in-ones, two of which were on the same hole. He enjoyed bowling and even bowled a perfect 300 game in 1965 during league action. Al was a die-hard Cubs and Bears fan. He enjoyed gardening and prided himself on his vegetables and roses. Al loved kids and they could always sense his kindness and big heart.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, Boca Raton; children, Lorraine (Loren) Hansen, LeClaire, Sandy (Bob) Quebbeman, Springfield, Mo., Larry (Debbie) Carlson, Boca Raton; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; six sisters.
