Frederick "Fritz" Harm, 84, Mandan, died March 19, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Albert Leary officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery, with military rites by Mandan Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 707 and Mandan American Legion Post 40.

Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. to noon today at the funeral home.

Frederick "Fritz" Harm, the son of Louis and Margaret (Wetsch) Harm, was born Aug. 4, 1915, in Solen, where he was raised and educated. Fred served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He served with the military police and was stationed in Central Europe and Normandy. He received the Purple Heart and many other medals. Fred returned to Mandan, and on Jan. 24, 1946, he was united in marriage to Madeline Ferderer in Mandan. Fred was a route salesman for Cloverdale for 32 years. He retired in 1980 and began working for Morton County Weed Board.

He was a member of Elks, a past president of Eagles and was active in the Boy Scouts, where he served as a Scout master.

Fred is survived by four sons and two daughters-in-law, Harvey, Larry and Judy, and Jack and Lindy, all of Mandan, and Ronald, Bismarck; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Rose Rogers and Edith Ferderer and two brothers-in-law, Carl and Jack Ferderer.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Maggie, who died June 18, 1993; three brothers, August, Mike and Bill; and one sister, Margaret.
