Known for his invention of the "Karman canula" still used in early abortions, Karman was also notorious for the 1972 "Mothers Day Massacre" in which he and Dr. Kermit Barron Gosnell used Karman's experimental "super coil" abortion technique on a busload of women brought to them by the Jane abortion collective of Chicago.
