Robert Brown Abbott

Services for Robert Brown Abbott, 66, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday Dec 8, 1994 at the First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Carl and Julie Christensen officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery. Mr. Abbott died Dec 5, 1994 at a Denver, Colo. hospital.

He was born May 24, 1928 at Oakdale, Neb, the son of James Alfred and Sarah Nettie (Musser) Abbott. The family moved to Oelrichs, S. D. in 1928, and he grew up and received his schooling there, He worked on construction in the South Dakota area until moving to Upton, Wyo. in 1948. He married Lois Marie Baker in Gordon, Neb June 25, 1948,and they made their home in Upton where he was employed at the Wyoming bentonite fields for 11 years. In 1960, he began employment with oil field production and continued this for 26 years.

While in Upton, he was a Cub Scout Den Master and a member of the local volunteer fire department for many years. He retired from Pacific Enterprises in 1986 as a production foreman.

In Torrington, he was a member of the first Wyoming United Presbyterian Church where he was a Trustee and member of the Building and Grounds committee. He liked hunting, fishing, traveling and reading.

He is survived by his wife Lois of Torrington; daughter Marilyn Rae smith of Aurora, Colo; two sons, Ron of Golden, Colo and Cliff of Upton, five grandchildren, Michael and Steven Abbott, Cole Smith and Tyler and Shelby Abbott; sister Doris Halls, brother Charles Abbott and aunt Grace Jordal, all of Newcastle; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three half-brothers, a nephew and grand-niece.

Memorial gifts to the Torrington fire Department, the Upton Fire Department or the church would be appreciated by the family.

Friends may call at the Colyer Funeral Home Wednesday from 9 am to 7 pm and Thursday from 9 am to noon. The casket will not be opened at the service.
