Daughter of George and Amanda (Barton) Stockman

Mrs. Bowen, 77 years of age was born on May 1, 1863, in Bourbon, IN. When 19 years of age she came to Ludington to be married to Charles Bowen, who survives. Mr. and Mrs. Bowen lived in Ludington until 1921 when they moved to Yale to be with family. Mrs. Bowen was affiliated with the Congregational Church and was a member of the Maccabee Lodge.
Preceded in death by two children who died in infancy and her oldest son, Edward. Mrs. Bowen is survived by two sons Merle Bowen of Marlette and Charles F. Bowen of Detroit; two daughters Mrs. Lawrence Goding of Downers Grove, IL and Mrs. Edward Thompson of Ludington; her sister Mrs. Henry Leonard of New Haven, Conn; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
after the death of their son Edward and subsequent passing within a year of his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Bowen took into their home and raised their children. All of whom are grown and married at this time. (SJ Knowles Foundation Library)
