He spent many years as an educator, coach and principal in various Mississippi schools. He played fullback for the Ole Miss Rebels from 1968 to 1970. He was always a loyal supporter of the Rebel Nation. He also helped his father operate M. Havard's Grocery in Gloster for 21 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents, Clara Lee Spillman and James Joseph Shuckrow; and paternal grandparents, Reva S. Ashley and William Curtis Havard.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Dianne Lutrick Havard; two daughters, Kimberly and husband Brad Wooley of Smithdale, and Mary Leigh and husband Greg Rodgers of Flowood; four grandchildren, Seth, Tyler and Sydni Wooley and Easton Rodgers; three brothers, Rickey and wife Christy Havard, Murdock Jr. and wife Vickie Havard, and Roy Havard, all of Gloster; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
