October 1, 1931:
Miss Laura James, aged 81 years, died at her home at Mobjack, Va., early Tuesday morning, Sept. 29th. She is survived by two brothers, Capt. Jefferson James, Mobjack, and Capt. Franklin James, Mathews, Va. Miss James was a faithful member of Grace M. E. Church where funeral services were held Wednesday at 3 P. M., conducted by her pastor, Rev. Thomas E. Johnson, assisted by Rev. George Shaw. Interment was made in Christ Church Cemetery. The active pallbearers were: Robert Sibley, Thomas Sibley, Capt. V. H. Machen, O. A. White, Charles Thomas, and G. E. T. Lane. Honorary: Henry Sibley, O. M. Walker, O. O. Rhea, and J. W. Minter.
