Mrs. Ophelia Leavell Abernathy wife of Capt. H. G. Abernathy, died at her home at Ninth street, at 6 o'clock last Thursday evening. She had been an invalid and a great sufferer for several months and her death was not unexpected. Mrs. Abernathy was one of the best of women. She was a pious, devoted christian and an active worker in the church and Sunday school up to the time her health gave way, about a year ago.
She leaves only one child, Mr. Henry H. Abornathy. To the bereavedhusband and son the tenderest sympathies of the entire community go out. The funeral was preached at 3 P.M., Friday, at the Baptist church, by her pastor, Rev. Dr. Prestridge,
and the remains were interred in the City Cemetery.
