"Green Twp. - Eber R. Bolin, 82, of 3628 Massillon rd., founder of the Bolin Oil Co. and service station dealer for 45 years, died Saturday in Akron City Hospital. Born and raised in Athens County, Mr. Bolin moved to Akron in 1915 where he worked at the B. F. Goodrich Co. for 16 years. In 1931, he opened a service station on the family property on Massillon rd. That same year he left Goodrich to devote full time to the operation after he was shot and seriously wounded during a holdup. The gasoline service station developed into a truck stop and lunch room. Mr. Bolin formed the Bolin Home and Auto Supply Co. with his two sons and later developed Bolin Auto Sales which grew into Bolin Oil Co. in 1954. He also was a Sun Oil Co. dealer for 45 years the longest of all service station dealers in the Akron area. THROUGH THE YEARS Mr. Bolin advised many youngsters in the area who attended square dances and ate in the Bolin's lunchroom. He anonymously donated baskets of food, clothing and money to the needy throughout the years, according to family members. Mr. Bolin leaves Ethel, his wife of 58 years; sons, Russell C. and Paul R., both of Green Twp., sister Essie Russell, Middleport, brother Harry, Waynesburg, four grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p. m. Monday at the Kucko-Anthony-Hecker funeral home with burial in Greensburg cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p. m. today at the funeral home."
