Stella Lancaster was a native of Craven County, was born on July 30, 1917 and lived most of her adult life in the Black Jack Community. She was a member of the Tabernacle Holiness Church and the Ladies Auxiliary in Vanceboro. She was an accomplished seamstress and gardener.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Haddock; brothers, William "Bill" Lancaster and Jack Lancaster; sister, Lula L. Creasman; and a son in-law, Robert E. Lee.
