William Earnest "Wick" Lythgoe Jr., 86, died Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at his home in Glenrock.

Wick was born on a ranch outside of Glenrock on January 14, 1927 to Lula Mae (Lane) and William Earnest Lythgoe Sr. He graduated from Glenrock Parkerton High School in 1944. He served in the Merchant Marines aboard a tanker, the USS Callabee, in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. Upon his return, he married June E. Bondurant of Parkerton, Wyoming on May 9, 1947. They became parents of three children: Cheryl (Steve) Oldham of Vernal, Utah, William "Bill" (Donna) Lythgoe of Kent, Washington, and Michael Dean (Jackie) Lythgoe of Mesa, Arizona.

Wick worked on a ranch for some time, and then took a position with Stanilin Pipeline Company. He began his construction career in a partnership with a longtime friend, Lester Rookstool. He later purchased the business, and started Lythgoe Construction and worked locally until his retirement in 2006.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, June E. Lythgoe of Glenrock, Wyoming his children, Cheryl Oldham, Bill Lythgoe, and Mike Lythgoe. In addition, he is survived by five grandchildren, Kimberely (Joe) Boren of Vernal, Utah, Joni (Matt) MacNeill of Bonney Lake, Washington, Stacey Jo Lythgoe of Las Vegas, Nevada, Shaun Lythgoe of Glenrock, Wyoming, and Talicia Lythgoe of Mesa, Arizona; five great grandchildren, Jody Hadden of Arvada, Colorado, Josh (Natalie) Boren of Vernal, Utah, Elise MacNeill of Bonney Lake, Washington, Kade Boren of Vernal, Utah, and Darby Boren of Vernal, Utah; and one great-great granddaughter, Reagan Boren of Vernal, Utah. He is survived by several special nieces, nephews, and close friends, including a long-time friend and buddy, Hershel H. Wickett.

Wick was a life time member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Rebekahs. He was a State presiding officer in the three branches of Odd Fellowship. He is a Past Grand Master of Wyoming, a Past Grand Patriarch of the Grand Encampment, and Past Department Commander of the Patriarchs Militant. In addition, he is a 50 year member of Glenella Rebekah Lodge of Glenrock. Wick received the Decoration of Chivalry and the Meritorious Service Jewel, which are the highest awards given by the Order.

He was an active member of the Community Baptist Church in Glenrock. He enjoyed bowling and sponsored a team for many years. He loved to hunt and has always loved sports. He loved country western music and was an exceptional dancer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Jack Lythgoe, and his sister, Dorothy Chapin.
