Died John Marx
At his home on O'Brien street, on Thursday Morning, at four o'clock, occurred the death of John Marx. The deceased was born in Hummersen, Schwalenberg, Germany, February 24th, 1844. When a youth of ten years he came to America with his parents who settled in this county. The deceased learned the carpenter's trade and followed it up to within a short time prior to his death. He was married at Monroe, April 23rd, 1867, to Miss Rosa Geckle, and from this union there was six children--four of whom with his wife survive him--John, Karl, Gustave and Walter, all of this city. Some eight years ago Mr. Marx fell from a scaffold at St. Mary's academy and never fully recovered from the effects of the fall. He was confined to his house for a month previous to his death and to his bed but a fortnight. Funeral services were held from Zion's Lutheran church Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev.Soll officiating. Mr. Marx was a loving husband and a kind and affectionate father and was a member of the German Workingmen's Society.
