"Greensburg. July 24. Again we are called upon to chronicle the death of two of our respected citizens. Mrs. John Shaffer, an old and esteemed lady, died on the 20th inst. A husband and daughter mourn her. Two days later, her neighbor, Mrs. David Heckman, was compelled to follow her. She leaves a husband and two little children. The funeral took place today from the Evanelical {sic} Church. Revs. Carmonie and Sprankle officiating. Mrs. Heckman (nee Emma Hartong) was the youngest child but one of Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Hartong."

Emma died of a lung fever, 3 days after giving birth to a son.
